The flagship flight app uses an AI assistant and PNR predictor that surfaces fare drops, train running status, alternative routes, and seat availability heuristics tuned for Indian travel patterns. The apps are free. Revenue comes from airline and hotel commissions, convenience fees, ancillary insurance, and a growing B2B advertising and ticketing solutions business. As of mid-2025, ixigo employs around 1,144 people, almost entirely in India. The shareholder base remains India-leaning — Elevation Capital (formerly SAIF Partners India) is the largest single shareholder at ~23% on a fully diluted basis, with founders Aloke Bajpai and Rajnish Kumar holding a combined ~10% post-IPO. ixigo is best suited for tier-2 and tier-3 Indian travellers, frequent rail commuters, and budget-conscious flight bookers who value the integrated rail/bus/flight experience. The biggest weakness is post-booking support: refund delays, unresponsive helplines, and silent failures where money is debited but the ticket isn't issued are persistent themes in user reviews. Hotel inventory is also less competitive than MakeMyTrip or Booking.com. For purely rail bookings, ixigo Trains and ConfirmTkt remain the cleanest non-IRCTC apps on the market.
