About This App

Aasaan is a zero-code headless commerce platform built by Lightbooks Technologies, based in India. The platform enables SMBs and D2C brands to create fast, modern e-commerce storefronts without any coding or design skills — using a drag-and-drop builder, pre-built templates, and AI-powered tools for product descriptions, SEO optimization, and store setup. Aasaan gained early traction through an AppSumo launch and has built a loyal base among small merchants looking for affordable Shopify alternatives. Aasaan combines headless architecture (decoupled frontend and backend) with no-code simplicity. The platform offers an AI website builder, mobile app generation, multi-channel selling (web, mobile, social media), unified order and inventory management, built-in SEO tools, and analytics dashboards. The headless approach delivers significantly faster page loads — Aasaan claims 70% improvement in site speed and 38% uplift in conversion rates compared to traditional platforms. An API layer allows developers to extend the platform with custom integrations. Aasaan sells two plans, both billed annually: Premium at Rs 19,999/year (Rs 1,666/month) and Business at Rs 39,999/year (Rs 3,333/month); paid monthly instead, those become Rs 2,399 and Rs 5,999. Those figures are confirmed by Aasaan's own pricing page and its published structured data, which lists exactly two offers with a low price of Rs 1,666 and a high of Rs 3,333. Aasaan charges no transaction fee on orders. The comparison with Shopify is more interesting than a straight price cut: Shopify Basic in India costs Rs 1,499/month billed yearly, so Aasaan's entry plan is actually about 11% dearer on subscription. But because Shopify Payments does not operate in India, every Indian Shopify merchant must use a third-party gateway and pays Shopify a 2% third-party transaction fee on top of it, which Aasaan does not charge. The payment gateway's own cut applies either way and cancels out. The break-even is around Rs 8,350 in monthly sales — below that Shopify Basic is cheaper, above it Aasaan is, and the gap widens with volume. Best suited for Indian SMBs, small D2C brands, and first-time e-commerce entrepreneurs who want a modern, fast storefront without technical overhead. The AI builder genuinely simplifies setup for non-technical users. However, the integration ecosystem is still small, some customization options require a learning curve, there's no built-in blogging engine, and the platform is relatively new — enterprise-grade reliability and feature depth are still catching up to established players like Shopify.

Honest Review

4.8/5 on G2 (15+ reviews) · Last verified 2026-09-10

What works well

  • +Zero transaction fees on orders — stated on Aasaan's checkout page and in its own structured data
  • +Headless architecture delivers genuinely fast page loads — 70% speed improvement claimed over traditional platforms
  • +AI-powered website builder requires zero coding skills — drag-and-drop with pre-built templates
  • +Costs less than Shopify overall for any store trading above roughly Rs 8,350/month, because Shopify India adds a 2% third-party payment fee that Aasaan does not charge
  • +WhatsApp marketing and one-click checkout are included rather than sold as add-ons
  • +Free trial available with no credit card required, plus a free migration path from Shopify

What needs improvement

  • -No free plan and no monthly billing on the main tiers — plans are sold annually (Rs 19,999 or Rs 39,999 upfront)
  • -Entry plan is about 11% more expensive than Shopify Basic on subscription alone (Rs 1,666/mo vs Rs 1,499/mo) — it only wins once per-order fees are counted
  • -Only two plans, so there is little room to grow inside the product
  • -Integration ecosystem is limited — fewer third-party apps compared to Shopify's 8,000+ app store
  • -No published App Store or Play Store listing, so there is no large user-rating sample to check it against
  • -Relatively new platform — feature depth and enterprise reliability still maturing

Common user complaints

  • !Banner size configuration is confusing — hard to get images to display correctly across devices
  • !A few persistent bugs in the editor that require workarounds — platform stability varies
  • !App integrations are too few — missing popular tools that Shopify marketplace offers
  • !Documentation could be more detailed for advanced customization scenarios

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does Aasaan cost?

Aasaan sells two plans, both billed annually: Premium at Rs 19,999/year, which works out to Rs 1,666/month, and Business at Rs 39,999/year, or Rs 3,333/month. If you pay monthly instead of annually the rates are Rs 2,399 and Rs 5,999. There is a free trial with no credit card required, but no permanently free plan. Checked on Aasaan's own pricing page on 10 September 2026.

Does Aasaan charge a transaction fee on orders?

No. Aasaan states zero transaction fees on its checkout page, on its pricing page and in the structured data it publishes on its own site. You still pay whatever your payment gateway charges — Razorpay, Cashfree or similar — because that is a separate company taking a separate cut, but Aasaan itself does not take a percentage of your sales.

Is Aasaan actually cheaper than Shopify in India?

Not on subscription, and this is worth getting right. Shopify Basic in India costs Rs 1,499/month billed yearly; Aasaan Premium is Rs 1,666/month, roughly 11% more. Aasaan becomes cheaper once per-order fees are counted. Shopify Payments does not operate in India, so Indian merchants must connect a third-party gateway, and Shopify then charges a 2% third-party transaction fee on Basic on every order. Aasaan charges nothing per order. The break-even is about Rs 8,350 in monthly sales: below that Shopify Basic costs less, above it Aasaan does, and the difference grows with volume. At Rs 5,00,000/month in sales Shopify's 2% alone is Rs 10,000.

Who owns Aasaan and where is it based?

Aasaan is built by Lightbooks Technologies Pvt Ltd, founded in 2020 and based in Hyderabad, Telangana. Aasaan's own published structured data gives its address country as IN, region Telangana, locality Hyderabad, and names Sivaram as founder. It scores 92 out of 100 on our Swadeshi Meter.

Does Aasaan have a mobile app I can check reviews for?

Not one we could find. Aasaan publishes no Google Play or App Store link on its own website, and we could not confirm a merchant app listing under the obvious package names. Aasaan does offer mobile app generation for the stores you build on it, which is a different thing from Aasaan having its own rated app. The 4.8 rating you may see quoted, including on our own page, comes from G2 and is based on roughly 15 reviews, which is too small a sample to draw much from.

Can I migrate an existing Shopify store to Aasaan?

Aasaan runs a dedicated 'Switch from Shopify' page on its site offering free store migration, and describes its plans as bundling in features that Shopify typically sells as paid apps. As with any migration, the things that usually need checking are URL structure and redirects for SEO, historical order data, and whether your existing payment gateway and shipping integrations are supported.
